Why ICO?
As a student at ICO, I valued the academic standards upheld by the college as well as the clinical complexity provided at the Illinois Eye Institute. Joining the ICO community as a faculty member has allowed me to continue learning as both a scholar and an educator.
Biography
After earning her bachelor's degree at Trinity Christian College, Dr. Bandstra received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She continued her education at ICO, completing a residency in pediatric optometry and binocular vision. Following her residency at ICO, Dr. Bandstra practiced in the private sector for three years at a family practice in Chicago with an emphasis on pediatric eye care and vision therapy. She now works full time at ICO as an Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Department while also seeing patients in private practice one day a week.
